Now we're looking for an exceptional Head of Engineering to lead our Sydney engineering team and help shape the next chapter of ANNA's growth.

The Role

As Head of Engineering, you'll be responsible for building, developing and leading a high-performing engineering organisation in Australia.

You'll combine technical leadership with people leadership, ensuring teams deliver high-quality software whilst creating an environment where engineers can thrive.

Working closely with Product, Design and senior leadership, you'll help define engineering strategy, influence technical direction and ensure we're building products that delight customers.

You'll also play a key role in helping ANNA continue its journey towards becoming an AI-native engineering organisation.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach and develop multiple engineering teams.

• Create a high-performance engineering culture built on trust, ownership and continuous improvement.

• Partner closely with Product and Design to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

• Shape engineering strategy, technical direction and architectural decisions.

• Champion modern software engineering practices and AI-assisted development.

• Support engineers through mentoring, feedback and career development.

• Recruit and retain exceptional engineering talent.

• Drive engineering excellence, quality and operational reliability.

• Improve engineering processes, tooling and developer experience.

• Ensure teams deliver scalable, secure and resilient software.

• Foster collaboration across Engineering, Product, Data and Customer Experience.

• Balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery.

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience leading high-performing software engineering teams.

• Experience managing Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers.

• Strong software engineering background with the credibility to engage in technical discussions.

• Experience scaling engineering teams in high-growth technology businesses.

• Passion for coaching and developing people.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Experience partnering closely with Product leadership.

• Strong commercial awareness and customer focus.

• Experience balancing engineering quality with delivery pace.

Nice to Have

• Experience within fintech or regulated technology.

• Experience leading distributed engineering teams.

• Experience working with AI-assisted software development.

• Experience building engineering organisations during periods of rapid growth.

• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern software delivery.
